Our values.

The core values of GSI are based on Christian values:

Stewardship
Dominion means to govern, rule, control, cultivate and order […]. God gave Adam [humanity] the management or stewardship contract for the earth. – Dr. Myles Munroe Fairness
We advocate and stand for fairness in terms of access to natural resources, distribution of resource wealth, information, fair-trade and application of environmental laws. We understand that inequality of any form could pose a threat to environmental sustainability.
Transperancy and accountability We accept that stewardship requires openness, honesty and accountability to God and fellow humans. Caring for others
Loving our neighbor demands that we care for them and their environment. We recognize that humanity needs a good and enabling environment to fulfill life purposes. Equality
We acknowledge that every person, irrespective of gender, nationality, social status, religion, and political association, has a unique value and capacity to influence the environment positively, and should have equal right to live in a good environment. Therefore, we call for environment and development activities to take action against all forms of inequalities.

In line with our core values we have developed a green code which contains principles that guide us in our practical work:

Paperless culture We adhere to minimum hard print as much as possible and encourage digital storage and distribution of information. Energy Efficiency We promote minimum travelling (in favor of online interactions and meetings), use of energy efficient bulbs and virtual interaction. Green consumption We buy, eat and serve food produced locally as much as possible. A vegetarian meal is prioritized as compared to meat based in all our events. Responsible Procurement We strive to always engage with and procure items from certified environmentally friendly organizations and companies. Carbon footprint We assess constantly our environmental impact and work to improve our carbon offsetting. Sorting, recycling and re-use is practiced within our organizational setting.
